It was Piaggio's first scooter prototype (1945), designed by Renzo Spolti/Vittorio Casini, nicknamed "Paperino" (Italian for Donald Duck) due to its bulky enclosed-wheel shape, and Enrico Piaggio reportedly disliked it, leading to the redesigned MP6 that became the production Vespa 98.
